Compiere Appoints Open Source Thought Leader to Its Board of Directors

Larry Augustin will help drive continued growth of leading open source ERP and CRM provider

Portland, Oregon – July 20, 2006 – Compiere, Inc., the premier provider of open source business applications, today announced that Larry Augustin has joined its Board of Directors. The company offers cost-effective ERP and CRM solutions for small to medium-sized enterprises worldwide through its nearly 100 partners trained by Compiere to provide implementation, integration, customization and support services to users. The addition of Mr. Augustin will position Compiere for continued growth as the company focuses on building out a worldwide infrastructure to better support its partner network and hiring additional resources.

Mr. Augustin is best known for founding VA Linux, now known as VA Software (NASDAQ: LNUX), and for helping to coin the term "Open Source". Under his leadership as chairman and CEO, Mr. Augustin led VA Linux through the "largest first day gain ever" in an IPO. While at VA Linux, Mr. Augustin launched SourceForge.net, the largest open source development site on the Internet that marks more than 30 million unique visitors each month and hosts more than 120,000 registered open source projects.

In addition to remaining as VA Software's chairman, Mr. Augustin actively serves on the board of multiple successful open source companies that span the spectrum, from infrastructure leaders such as Hyperic, to enabling technology companies like Xensource, to application innovators such as SugarCRM. Mr. Augustin was also a director of JBoss until its recent acquisition by Red Hat (NASDAQ: RHAT). In addition, Mr. Augustin serves on the board of directors of non-profit industry organizations such as OSDL (Open Source Development Lab) and LMI (Linux Mark Institute) the licensing organization for the Linux trademark.

Commenting on Mr. Augustin's appointment, Andre M. Mr. Augustin holds Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from Stanford University, as well as a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Notre Dame.
